…Calls for adaptation to tech, regulatory shifts, and skills gap
The Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS) Lagos State Branch has called on professionals in Nigeria to brace up for technological integration, workforce shortages, and regulatory complexities to drive multi-sectoral growth.
Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS) Lagos State Branch, Adedeji Olanrewaju, while delivering his speech at the 2026 Global Surveyors’ Day Celebration, held at Alausa themed: ‘”Surveyors Challenges In Multi Sectoral Growth” also said practitioners should embrace mentorship while calling on people to maintain their professional boundaries.
Olanrewaju, who spoke through the Vice Chairman, Moses Ogundare, highlighted key hurdles faced by Surveying professionals which included tech Integration amid costs workforce and skill gaps, regulatory navigation, Environmental Risks as well as Unsafe working conditions with impact efficiency.

He commended the Lagos State government for the implementation of the Land Grabbing law in the state saying the NIS Lagos Branch was committed to working with the present administration to address the issues of quackery.
Also speaking, the Association Of Private Practising Surveyor Of Nigeria, APPSN, Lagos State Branch, Olaoluwa Afolabi, who spoke through his Vice, Adams Olugbenga, implored surveyors to practice ethically and avoid supporting unlicensed operators while urging residents to desist from patronising quacks.

In his remarks at the event which featured games and aerobics and interactive sessions, Acting Surveyor-General of Lagos State, Saliu Odupe who was represented by an official, Solomon Olufemi, congratulated professionals in the state restating supports to move the profession forward and ensure sustainable growth in the sector.
He promised members of the institution government support while urging them to continue to uplift professionalism in surveying.
