
Prof. Nimi Wariboko
Carleton University’s Institute of African Studies in collaboration with the Department of English, is pleased to host a three-part event with Prof. Nimi Wariboko , the Walter G. Muelder Professor of Social Ethics and Director of the African Studies Center at Boston University, as special guest.
Prof. Wariboko is a public intellectual, poet, and scholar with multiple dimensions of competence: philosophical, economic, political, historical, and theological. His scholarship is innovative, impactful, and prodigious. He is the Walter G. Muelder Professor of Social Ethics and Director of the African Studies Center at Boston University, United States.
Wariboko is a writer of profound knowledge, a poet of emotional depth, and a master of lyrical, accessible, and spare lines. He is a transtylistic poet. Prior to entering academia, he worked for many years in the financial sector, both as a banker in Lagos and as a strategy consultant on Wall Street. This experience, combined with his Ph.D. in Social Ethics from Princeton Theological Seminary and MBA in Finance and Accounting from Columbia University.

c) Poetry Evening and Book launch
Launch Prof. Wariboko’s newly released poetry collection, Soap Bubble (Guernica Editions) and readings from the book, Soap Bubble. Prof Wariboko will also read from Biafra Songs, to mark 50 years of Biafra War. Autographed copies will be available for purchase at the event.
