……Says US support does not come for free
A former Director of Doctrine and Training of the Nigerian Army, Major General Ishola Williams (rtd) has said that laudable as the efforts of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu is to curb terrorism, the involvement of the United States troops will undermine his performance.
According to Williams since any support rendered by the US is not for free, the country stands to gain more politically and financially from it.
“Foreign troops and expensive weapons do not win Asymetric or Low Intensity Wars anywhere. We can learn from India in this regard,’’.
On the claims of detained former Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El Rufai on wIre-tapping, he said the man was just trying to cover up those who gave him information on his pending arrest.
“I do not believe him. He knows how the system works and he has people in the system who give him up- to- date information about the on-goings in DSS and the Office of the NSA. He has to cover up those who gave him the warning about his arrest with the hacking story,” Williams said.
The former scribe of the Transparency Internationl said that as far as he was concerned, ”There is no cause for alarm.”
Still on the comment of President Tinubu on Ribadu’s performance he declared, ”the statement by the President that the NSA is doing a job is undermined by bringing the US intelligence physical support back. The US benefits politically and financially’’.
