Gov. Babajide Sanwoolu has urged corps members to use their Places of Primary Assignment to contribute to the social, economic, and political growth of Lagos State.

He gave this advice at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation course on Tuesday in Iyana-Ipaja.

The event took place at the National Youth Service Corps temporary orientation camp.

Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that the training received would significantly impact the corps members during and beyond their service year.

“Strive to give your best and leave a lasting mark in health, education, environment, SDGs, social services, agriculture, and other key sectors,” he said.

He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to rewarding excellence among corps members and supporting youth-focused initiatives across the state.

The governor was represented by Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development.

He urged corps members to take seriously the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programmes during the orientation course.

“Mastering these skills can qualify you for loans through the many funding opportunities made available by the government and other partners,” he stated.

He said the initiatives aim to empower young people to launch and grow their own businesses in response to the challenge of unemployment.

“This will make you self-reliant, and also turn you into wealth creators and employers of labour,” he added.

Mrs Christina Salmwang, NYSC Lagos State Coordinator, described the ceremony as the start of a new chapter for the corps members.

She said they would now proceed to serve in the 20 Local Government Areas across Lagos State.
