PDP Reaches Out to Peter Obi for 2027 Presidential Ticket

In a significant political twist, Prof. Jerry Gana, one of the founding members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has announced that the party has officially contacted Peter Obi, encouraging him to come back and represent them in the 2027 presidential election.

Gana emphasized that this initiative is part of PDP’s larger plan to bring together credible leaders and regain power, highlighting that Obi is a vital player with strong grassroots support and a spotless reputation.

He made this known in an interview with AIT on Friday, where he said that steps are being taken to bring Obi back.

The former presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, said that the party is working on luring Obi and other members of the party.

Obi left the PDP on May 25, 2022, ahead of the 2023 elections and joined the Labour Party on May 27, 2022.

He became the LP’s standard-bearer and contested the 2023 presidential election.

When asked if the party had spoken with Obi about returning, Gana responded, “Why not?”

Gana added, “He [Obi] is not the only person. We are also moving to other persons. But I don’t want to announce until we really get there.

“I have a very solid platform. I can now go back to these people and say the platform you were complaining about is now set, proper, and ready to move. I know many of them would respond.”
