NCC: Maida Promises Improved Telecoms  Services In 2026





Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC),  Dr. Aminu Maida has expressed the commitment of Telecoms regulator to provide quality service to consumers and ensure that  operators remain commercially viable.

 Dr. Maida while pledging NCC’s commitment to improved quality service delivery , in his new year message recently, also commended consumers  for their patience and feedback.

 “Our expectation this year is clear: measurable improvement in consumer experience. Stronger networks, clearer communication, better customer care, and stricter compliance. Together, we will build a communications ecosystem where businesses can grow and Nigerians can thrive,” he emphasized.

“The communications sector is an essential service connecting families, supporting businesses, enabling education and healthcare, and powering the digital economy. Balancing consumer satisfaction with operator sustainability is key. When this balance is achieved, trust is built, investment flows, and more Nigerians can participate meaningfully in the digital economy.” He added



Dr. Maida stressed  that in 2025, broadband subscriptions improved from 96.3 million to 109.6 million while  2,800 sites were deployed across Nigeria.  

In tackling  infrastructure outages, vandalism of telecom facilities and   inconsistent service quality, among other challenges,  Dr. Maida harped on NCC’s determination to implement practical measures to improve network availability and performance.
