The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State today  unveiled its candidates for the July 12 Local Government elections,  with Apex Leader, Chief Olabode George urging  the party’s  chairmanship and councillorship candidates participating in  the elections slated for July 12,2025 to be courageous and confidently  sell the party to the electorate.

PDP is  presenting candidates for chairmanship and councillorship to the state’s 20 LGAs, 37 LCDAs, and 376 wards.

George, the former deputy national chairman of the party, who spoke at the presentation of flags to the party’s candidates, explained that the fielding of candidates for the local government election was an indication that  the party can weather any storm and claim victory in a free and fair electoral process.

He assured members of the party that  the crisis rocking the PDP shall be resolved before the month ends.

“The essence of today’s event is to convince the people of Lagos State that  PDP is not dead.  How  can an iroko tree die ? I pity some governors and members of the PDP jumping ship. What happened in Yobe State last Sunday showed the beginning of the end of the APC.

“What has the APC government done to favour Nigerians that warrants recognition, millions of Nigerians are suffering under APC government,” he said

Chief George urged the Chairmanship and councillorship candidates to campaign on the achievements of the PDP when it was in government and highlight the flaws of the APC.

“Be courageous enough and genuinely campaign to the people. Convince  the electorate on the good plans the PDP has for them. All of you contesting,  go out to tell the people what you will do and show them the lackluster administration that the APC is leading,” Chief George said.

Presenting the party flags to the candidates Chief Sunday Olaifa the state vice chairman, Lagos West, who stood in for the party chairman, Hon Philip Aivoji, said the PDP and its candidates stand a better chance of winning the election.

“The election is winnable, all what we need to do is work for our success in unity. In unity, we can achieve our purpose. APC is no longer attractive to the electorate. It is not sellable,’ he said.

Present at the gathering were Senator Kofoworola Bucknor- Akerele,  Captain Tunji Shelle (retired), Chief Onikepo Oshodi, Mrs Roli Bode George, Nike Coker, National ex -officio member  among other chieftains of the party.
