The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has described the late Serikin Hausawa of Ibadan, Alhaji (Dr.) Ali Dahiru Zungeru, as more than a community leader, hailing him as a pillar of unity and a symbol of peaceful co-existence.
Chief Adelabu made this remark on Thursday while condoling with the Hausa community in Ibadanland over the passing of the highly revered traditional and community leader.
The Minister also extended his heartfelt condolences to the Zungeru family, the government and people of Niger State, and the nation at large on the transition of what he described as an iconic leader and bridge-builder. Expressing deep sorrow over the loss, Adelabu noted that the late Serikin Hausawa was a father figure to all.
“For decades, he played an invaluable role in fostering harmony, understanding, and mutual respect among the diverse peoples of Ibadan and beyond. His wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people earned him widespread respect across ethnic and religious divides,” the Minister said.
Recalling the late Seriki’s character, Chief Adelabu described him as a man of profound peace whose doors were always open for dialogue and community development. He added that his passing has created a significant void in the socio-cultural fabric of Ibadan and Nigeria as a whole.
The Minister urged the bereaved family and the entire community to take solace in the exemplary life of service, integrity, and peace lived by Alhaji Zungeru, noting that his enduring legacy as a unifier and stabilizing force would continue to inspire present and future generations.
Chief Adelabu prayed that Almighty Allah grants the departed leader eternal rest in Aljannah Firdaus and gives his family and loved ones the strength to bear the irreplaceable loss.
