Lagos State Health Management Agency, LASHMA, has unveiled it’s online radio, Ilera Eko Spotlight, in order to deepen public awareness and engagement on various health schemes of the state government.
At the unveiling of the online road on Wednesday during it’s quarterly media parley, the Permanent Secretary, LASHMA, Dr. Emmanuella Zamba said as an agency committed to ensuring access to affordable and quality healthcare for all Lagos residents, it is imperative that Lagosians are continuously informed, educated and enlightened about the State’s mandatory Social Health Insurance Scheme as well as the agency’s achievements and ongoing activities.
She said that the online radio would help the agency fully implement the Executive Order signed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, which mandated social health insurance for all residents, by carrying out sustained public awareness and education on the importance and mandatory
nature of the scheme.
“The ILERA EKO Spotlight online radio will further expand the reach of the agency and deepen public awareness. Its the first health insurance online radio in Nigeria.”
Zamba said doctors will be available online 24/7 to attend to enquiries by the people, answer questions and provide needed services.
She mentioned services under the Ilera-Eko Scheme to include the Telemedicine where residents can access medications through phone call, the Telehealth where residents can consult
qualified medical professionals conveniently from their homes, offices, or markets.
The Permanent Secretary promised that the agency will ‘continue to work
tirelessly under the leadership of Mr. Governor to ensure the sustainability of the State’s Social Health Insurance Scheme.
In his presentation, the Technical Assistant to the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Nifesimi Akinnagbe said LASHMA has conducted extensive sensitization in partnerships with other government agencies, public figures, media organizations as well as groups to create awareness on the scheme.
He said over 367 healthcare providers and 765 trained agents now serve as enrollment points under Ilera-Eko Academy adding that the agency will continue to focus on awareness, inclusion, and compliance with the executive order which full enforcement is expected in 2026
