LASHMA Unveils ‘Home Konnect, Waka Well’ Health Plans for Nigerians in Diaspora

The Lagos State Health Management Agency, LASHMA, has unveiled the ‘Home Konnect and Waka Well’ health insurance initiative under the Diaspora Health Insurance Plan to allow Nigerians abroad access health care even while staying abroad and their families back home

Speaking at the unveiling during the 2025 Q4 media parley, the Permanent Secretary, LASHMA, Dr Emmanuella Zamba said the two new health plans have been designed to serve Nigerians in diaspora better especially those already on the Lagos State health insurance scheme. She added that the implementation of the plans will be carried out jointly by the state government and private sector.

Zamba noted that over the years, LASHMA has unveiled several health insurance plans for the benefit of Lagosians.

Some of the plans, according to her, include Ilera N’tiwa Cooperative, Ilera Eko Academy, the Ilera Eko telemedicine service, and the Ilera Eko Spotlight online radio.

She commended the LASHMA’s team for coming up with various health insurance plans for the benefit of Lagosians.

“Lagos State is known for setting the pace, and LASHMA has proven itself a trailblazer. We have consistently been recognized for initiating innovations in the health insurance space that can increase enrollment uptake and accelerate the achievement of Universal Health Coverage, UHC,” Zamba said

She urged Lagosians to enroll on the health insurance scheme noting that with N15,000 per annum, an individual will have access to the benefits under the plan while a N55,000 per annum plan covers a family of four comprising the father, mother and two children below 23 years.

Zamba mentioned other plans to include an N80,000 per annum covering a family of six of the father, mother and four children below 23 years while a single parent with five children below 23 years will also have access to the benefits under the plan.

The Permanent Secretary commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his support and commitment to ensuring that Lagos residents live healthy lives and that the state achieves Universal Health Coverage.

The Executive Secretary, Lagos State Office of Diaspora, Jermaine Sanwo-Olu commended LASHMA for being creative in the health sector.

“You have done something that has touched the hearts of Nigerians in diaspora. The Ilera-Eko Diaspora plan is one of its kind. This plan will be able to take care of diasporas and their families in Nigeria,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Olanrewaju Bajulaye also praised the agency for ‘bringing health to the doorsteps of the people.’
