Group Calls For Suspension Of Ajeromi-Ifelodun APC LGA Chairman

A group comprising members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, known as Concerned Citizens of Ajeromi-Ifelodun, has called on the Lagos State APC Leadership to commence disciplinary actions and ensure the suspension of the chairman of the party in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Chief Samuel Adeyemi, for disobedience, insubordination, and dereliction of duties.

In a statement released by the group, it was alleged that Chief Adeyemi went against the party directive by altering the list given to him by the state party leadership of the successful councillorship candidates across the nine wards within the local government. He is specifically accused of changing the names of candidates in wards A and D to reflect that of his preferred candidates in serious violations of the party’s constitution and internal code of conduct.

“The party chairman hoarded the list and other information while he refused to call a meeting of leaders, candidates, and other aspirants to move forward for harmonization and reconciliation and have a united front going into the elections. His action is divisive, retrogressive, and provocative.“

He was alleged to have colluded with some unscrupulous elements at the State Party Secretariat to have collected fake LASIEC forms for his preferred councillors and vowed to ensure it’s their names that will get to the LASIEC office.

The group emphasized that such behaviour, if left unchecked, can further polarize the party within the local government and sets a dangerous precedent. It therefore calls for the immediate suspension of the LGA chairman and that he should not be entrusted with the electioneering activities.
