Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Chief Olabode George has appealed to Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, Senator David Mark and others who are leaving the party to form a coalition to return to the party because it is only in the PDP that their interest can be better served.
Speaking at a social engagement held in his office in Ikoyi,Lagos on Thursday tagged restitution of restoration,Chief George said they decided to celebrate because peace has returned to the PDP and the differences in the party has been resolved in the interest of the party.He explained that, the crisis at national level is over.
He however, appealed to those forming coalition that, no coalition they can form that can be stronger than the PDP.
Chief George said the PDP is a reborn political party that has weathered all storm and can never go under.
The PDP stalwart explained that, those leaving the party to form coalition are urinating on the grave of the founding fathers of the party who sacrificed everything to give birth to the party.
He explained that, it is a disservice to the party whose platform they used to get to higher position in the country.
Chief George said those who want to form coalition should not forget they have traveled that way before, and it amounts to nothing and it will be good they remain in the party to help build it.
He explained that, across the country members of the party are now celebrating the peace that has returned to the party,and that of the South West will hold in Ibadan next week.
“The party has weathered the storm,this party is reborn, those that have attained higher position in the country on the platform of the party should do a rethink,they should take it easy, there is no way their congregating can pass the PDP strength.
They have done it before,there is no major issue of contention in the PDP that can make them leave the PDP.I want to see major issue of contention,why do they want to leave the PDP?They want to be presidential candidate?
“Position are zoned in the PDP.The founding fathers of the party zoned position because lack of zoning of positions led to the collapse of the first and second republic.”
Chief George further added that there is no chance that the PDP can produce a Northerner as presidential candidate in 2027 in line with the zoning arrangement in the party.
He explained that a Northerner can only emerged a presidential candidate by 2031.”There is no chance by our party that person from the North will run in 2027.” He said.
