Buhari’s body arrives Daura from London

The remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived Nigeria.

Monitored via a life stream aired on TVC, Buhari’s body arrived at Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina around 2pm, following its departure from London, where he passed away on July 13 at age 82. Vice-President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila accompanied the remains from London, arriving ahead of the state ceremony

Buhari’s body has been received by President Bola Tinubu. The burial service will be held later today at approximately 2 pm in Daura, following Islamic rites.

The late Nigerian leader, who passed away on Sunday in a UK clinic at the age of 82, is set to be buried later today in his hometown of Daura, in accordance with Islamic burial rites.

Members of the committee include senior government officials, religious leaders and representatives of the Armed Forces.

Also present to receive the former president was Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, who arrived earlier in the day, clad in black.

A somber mood enveloped the tarmac as military officers gave a brief ceremonial salute before the convoy departed for Daura, where final burial preparations are underway.
