The management of Iponri Grammar School (IGS), Ebute-Metta, Lagos on Thursday commended its 2005 set for giving back to their Alma mater, describing their gesture as timely and deeply impactful.

Mrs. Fatimoh Salau, the current Principal of the school, gave the commendation at its 20th anniversary, where the alumni made donations to the students.

Amongst items donated were 40 pairs of school uniforms, customised exercise books and stationeries which were distributed to the students.

Salau said: “Your thoughtful donation of forty pairs of uniforms and stationery to our students has brought immense joy and support to our pupils.

“Your gesture demonstrates your commitment to giving back to your alma mater and making a positive impact on the lives of our students.

“Your initiative serves as a shining example of the values and spirit of IGS. Your good gesture will undoubtedly inspire and motivate our students to strive for excellence.”

In his remark, the Chairman of the 2005 Alumni, Mr Kolawole Sodiq, said the purpose of the initiative was to support the vulnerable students and promote youth development beyond academics.

According to him, this is more than a celebration, it is a legacy of gratitude and responsibility.

“We are here to remind the school management and students that we once sat where they sit today.

“This project is a bridge across generations, and we hope it inspires the students to dream bigger, reach further heights and replicate what we are doing here today.”

A major highlight of the event was a seminar titled, “Life After School”, for the Senior Secondary School (SSS) 2 and 3 students.

Recall that the seminar focused on entrepreneurship, personal development and post-secondary opportunities.

The event concluded with motivational speeches and the unveiling of a special 20th Anniversary Souvenir Book, distributed to the students as part of the celebration.
